Synthetic Corks & Replacement Oil Bottle Bungs
Secure your pour with high-grip, food-grade EVA synthetic corks. The leak-proof alternative to natural wood and rubber stoppers.
Olive oil presents a unique challenge for bottle seals: it is a natural lubricant. Traditional natural corks often absorb oil, causing them to swell, crumble, or—worst of all—slide right out of the bottle mid-pour. Our Synthetic Corks (EVA Bungs) are engineered to solve this.
Made from non-porous, food-safe materials, these bungs maintain their shape and grip even when exposed to heavy oils and acidic vinegars. Whether you are refreshing an old favorite spout or bottling a fresh harvest, our synthetic bungs provide the reliable “Memory-Fit” seal that professional kitchens demand.
Our synthetic corks feature a multi-tiered ribbed system. These “rings” create multiple independent seals against the glass neck of the bottle. Even if the top ring becomes oily, the lower rings maintain a vacuum-tight grip to prevent leaks.
Natural cork can harbor bacteria or “cork taint” (TCA), which ruins the delicate notes of an Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Our BPA-Free Synthetic Material is:
Olive oil bottles come in many shapes—Marasca (square), Dorica (round), and various artisanal heavy-glass formats. Our bungs are designed to compress and expand to fit:
| Feature | Synthetic EVA Bungs | Natural Wood/Cork |
|---|---|---|
| Grip on Oily Glass | High-Traction / Non-Slip | Prone to Sliding |
| Flavor Neutrality | 100% Neutral | Risk of “Cork Taint” |
| Durability | Years of Use | Brittle / Crumbles over time |
| Hygiene | Dishwasher Safe | Porous (Collects Bacteria) |
| Leak Protection | Multi-Ribbed Vacuum Seal | Single Point of Contact |
This usually happens because the bung is made of hard plastic or natural cork that has become coated in oil. Our synthetic bungs are “high-friction,” meaning they “bite” into the glass to stay secure even when the bottle neck is slippery.
Most stainless steel spouts have a friction-fit base. Simply pull off the old, worn-out bung and slide the new synthetic one into place. Pro Tip: If it’s a tight fit, a tiny drop of water (not oil!) on the metal tube will help it slide on easily.
Yes. Unlike rubber, which can degrade and become “gummy” when exposed to vinegar, our EVA synthetic material is chemically resistant to the acetic acid found in balsamic and wine vinegars.
